2D Animation
Rotoscope
I wanted the style of the rotoscope style to be a hand drawn sketch and to look 3D. I think the artist has done a great job of creating what I wanted. I had a desiccation with the artist about drawing the face of the subject. We decided against it because even though I wanted the drawing to ‘come to life’ in my animation, I didn’t want the drawing to be too life like. I wanted to keep the hand drawn sketchy feel to them. I also didn’t want the subject to really have an identity.

Rotoscope pictures

These are 6 of the final rotoscope pictures. Not all of them are finished, so heres an update of how the pictures are going, and what they look like.

Pre rotoscope shots!

These are the pictures that the artist will be drawing a detailed outline sketch of, on 10 pieces of A3 paper.

When I did the shoot, I took about 30 photos of the subject in different positions. These are the ones I chose to use.

Initial Idea Mindmap!

Initial Idea

Idea 1

Film someone playing guitar or singing maybe, in front of a green screen. take the first frame, get sone one to draw it on a big canvas. Take pictures every few seconds of that. When they finish, the drawing turns into the film moving on the canvas.

I got this idea from this video on YouTube - Weezer Frames

2D Animation Brief

ttpreproduction:

“Complete a 2D animation with soundtrack, at around 30 seconds in duration.”

This is a very open brief for you to choose your form, genre and technique. I would advise to stay away from standard stop motion as this is covered in Mr Hodges lesson.

Keep your animation realistic in terms of length and sophistication.
